DomainCalc Portfolio Report

A disciplined quarterly portfolio review

Use the same evidence and definitions each quarter. The checklist is useful on its own and does not require an email subscription.

Review one decision at a time: what to renew, what to reprice, what to investigate, and what to stop carrying.

1. Reconcile the portfolio

  • Export the current registrar inventory and remove domains no longer owned.
  • Record the next renewal date and actual renewal price.
  • Separate domains actively listed for sale from defensive or development holdings.
  • Mark any ownership, lock, transfer, or contact-data issue.

2. Review evidence before price

  • Record verified comparable sales with source and date.
  • Check legitimate traffic and revenue using provider reports.
  • Reassess buyer breadth, extension fit, clarity, and legal risk.
  • Do not treat asking prices or automated appraisals as completed-sale evidence.

3. Measure portfolio economics

  • Calculate sell-through with a consistent eligible-inventory denominator.
  • Compare gross sales with marketplace fees, renewals, and acquisition spending.
  • Separate realized cash flow from estimated inventory value.
  • Stress-test a lower sale rate and longer holding period.

4. Record decisions

For every changed price, renewal, or drop decision, record the evidence, calculation date, model version, and next review date. A consistent record is more useful than trying to remember why a decision seemed reasonable months earlier.
